fuel gauge problem?

so ever sins i bought my car my fuel gauge has been cracked out. it just moves around all the time. one moment it says its full the next half empty. what is the problem here? is it the fuel level sender or something? has anyone ells had this problem?

There is a bad ground on the backside of the cluster, its probably loose and tweaking out.
should be easy to find.
