    Reverse Stall??

    hey guys

    i have an e30 318i with a manual m10 and when i try and reverse the motor just cuts out, this only started happening 2 days ago, it doesnt matter how much you ride the clutch as soon as it starts moving bang it cuts out,

    anyone have any idea how to fix this?

      if its only reverse that does that, the only thing I can think of is that the bearing for that gear is locked up

      try jacking it up and spinning the wheels with the car is reverse and the clutch in
      1989 cirrisblau-metallic 325i

        I get the same thing every once in a while but I also can't get it out of reverse. It waits for about 10 seconds and then slowly dies. ?

          I've seen this before on some dude's Neon - the e-brake shoes were wedging themselves against the drum when the car tried to roll backwards. Can you push the car backwards in neutral? If not then I'd start looking at the transmission.

            ok guys i had a small look today as i didnt really have much time and it goes to stall as im putting it into reverse too, i have absolutely no idea whats going on with this car?? ill try jacking it up tomorrow arvo and spinning the wheels in reverse with the clutch in and see if that contributes to the problem
