i was wondering if anyone knew anything about sawpping the e39 540 v8 into an e36. i know that it can be done, look at the alpina b8, but all of the "home brews" i have seen were kind of half assed. any info or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. i know that some people may think that there is no reason to swap anything but the s50/52 but personally i think that swap is a bit played out and im looking for something more original. you cant replace the sound of a v8. i am well aware of the fact that this swap would be no walk in the park

for those of you that are looking for real information look on sites such as www.bimmerforums.com and www.roadfly.org, i only say this because your moderators seem to think that you dont know anything about e30's on an E 30 SITE!!!1

Can't we all just get along?
Hamman did it, but then again they would want about 100k USD to do it.
I did the m50 swap on my own and had no trouble and it is a home brew but seems that BMW quality remains.
I am thankful to the mechanics and other people that gave advice and other lil bits, I am just 17 and work an office job so the e30 is a strict hobby for me, love to grease on it and would never rely souly on others in doing any swap. I am looking at a s62 for my next e30 and it will be a trial and error type thing along with the knowledge of others about what parts work together best, ect. ect.
Most of the guess on here only know enough about the e36 to not like them so bimmerforums and max and roach are goona be more useful to you.

If i remeber right there are about 40 different subframe/ BODY modifacations that you must do to just put the motor in. Have fun with the wire harness and everything else. Do a search on bimmerforums for the swap because it has been talked about many times. Get to know some of the guys down under because they have done quite a few swaps like that there. It just woulden't be cost effective for the regular old joe to do it as apposed to a euro S52. Have fun with your reasearch :?

the lads at German Auto Haus have an e36 340i. you could try shooting them an email, but apparently they are loathe to divulge much information without money.sigpicM42 Brigade ... Throwing craze in the 318
