Fairly loud whine from car

On the way to work today i noticed a whine from the front of my car. It gets louder the faster im going but i cant hear it when i accelerate. Only when im not on the gas or its in neutral. Cant hear it when im not moving. Any ideas on what it could be?

That noise is probably from one of the belt driven accessories on the front of the engine. A few minutes of work with an automotive stethoscope should reveal the source.

if your right i hope its my power steering, that would give me a reason to ditch it :)

mine started doing this on the way back from colombus last night. put it up and swapped the trans fluid.. Let's just say that not much came out! :(

shifts smoother and is a little more quiet, but I'm afraid the damage is done.. the thing still has all sort of fun whines.
