Odd Clicking Sound from Passenger Door

Since I'm too lazy to fix my driver's side door lock, I have to open up the passenger side door, reach across, and lock the driver's side door. Now my passenger side door makes a clicking sound when it hits each joint on the door jamb. The clicking comes from the shutting mechanism area. It also does it after I lock and shut the door. Is my car going to explode?
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

I doubt it will explode, but is this like central-locking clicking or just a metallic noise? And what do you mean by joints on the door jamb?

Well, you open the door and it stops once at a particular degree, then once more, then once more and it's wide open.

This is more of a metallic noise, like someone tapping a key on your car.

sounds like the door brake. Lubrication will make the noise go away. Consult owners manual for lube type.

Also, if you are in a place that is cold right now, the rubber seals can make noise when the frame twists slightly over bumps. It wouldn't hurt to apply some silicone lubricant to it; it will also condition the rubber a bit. it really does sound like the door brake, though.
