    vacuum hoses

I am having trouble starting my 88 325ix ix i just purchased. I noticed that the two vacuum hoses that run from the throttle body to the crank case are disconnected at the throttle body. The hoses are just plugged. Should these two hoses be connected? I couldn't find the diagram on realoem's web site showing the part numbers for these. I'm assuming I can use any vacuum hose.

    thanks

I'm a bit confused as to what hoses you are talking about. There is one hose that runs from the TB to the valve cover (~3/4" ID). A connection from the TB to the ICV. And a hose from the TB to the brake booster. The only other hose connections to the TB are the heater hoses, one of which runs to the thermostat housing and the other to the block. I suspect it is those hoses that are disconnected and plugged.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
