you need to get the little plate that holds the axel nut in place. and depending on how you go about things you may want to get a new hub. Ive done this twice, IT SUCKS ASS.

WHAT??? SUCKS ASS???? OMFG, just buy the bearing w/hub and swap the whole assembly. If you have a press, then yeah - pressing out the current bearing should be quite easy, and what you linked to above is all you'll need if you plan on re-using your current dust cover... but seriously, it's so goddamned easy, my 13 year old sister can do it in about 1 hour. Took me less than 40 minutes taking pics to do a write-up on it (which I havent gotten around to yet  )

Are you doing a front or rear wheel bearing? Rears aren't as simple as replacing the hub. The bearing has to be physically pulled out using a special tool (or a little ingenuity ).

        Fronts are cake.

Your little sister can replace a rear wheelbearing in only one hour ??

For most gearheads it takes a few hours or more.

But, how big are my nuts?

"You now need a 32mm socket" -BP Page

"Break the collar nut loose with a 36mm socket wrench and a cheater pipe" - E30 page.

So which is it? Or do I just ,in true r3v fashion, "Throw money at it!!" and buy both and hope for the best?

                        Specifically, 89 325i size?

wine was 30mm and i did it yesterday.
if you really wanted to you could buy both and return the one you don't neet...
and im pretty sure the r3v way is quite the oppasit of throwing money at problems
