NEED HELP!! 1991 M50 to M50 Vanos Swap

I have a 1991 BMW E34 that lost the Engine. I have just purchased an 1993 M50 2.8L Vanos motor with 10K miles on it. I have bought a brand new DME, 3.3.1 Harness from Treehouse racing for the E34 and a new Hot-film Mass Air Sensor. Some one told me that I need to put the BMW on a sun-machine/ computer to hook up the sensors. What is the sun-machine about and is this all I need to do to finish getting it running? I am new to the whole engine swap thing.

    Thanks, Mike

The only reason that I know of that requires a diag system would be to align the EWS & DME. That procedure is required any time the DME is changed on a car equipped with EWS.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Should be able to just bolt up the harness to the motor and then put the harness in with the treehouse adapter and be good to go. Not sure why they need a machine with that stuff. Should be plug and play.

I am not even sure why you would need an adapter. The non vanos engine harness plug has the same pin out as the vanos engine plug. They only differ on the DME side. All you should need to do is install the engine/wiring harness with all the vanos sensors/DME, and plug the engine harness into the car. DO some research with a wiring diagram and you will find that the THR adapter will probably not be needed.
