rad expansion tank and/or exp. tank seals R&R questions for M42 318 >>

This is not the typical "expansion tank thread", as I have already searched and it seems many threads referencing "expansion tank" are for those completing engine conversions and/or wanting external expansion tanks - this is not one of those threads....

I just noticed this morning that my 318's radiator expansion tank is leaking at the very bottom where it meets the radiator (where the seam is above the small lower hose). It seems to leak more when it is cold out, but once warm it seems to be ok or not leak as much.

When looking online for a new radiator on bimmerparts.com, they don't stock the radiators for the 91 M42 318's. However, I did see they sell a brand new expansion tank w/ upper & lower seals for about $32.00 - OR they also sell the expansion tank upper and lower seals separately too....

I did not know you could replace just the expansion tank on these radiators!

    Here's my questions:

How do you remove just the expansion tank to replace it entirely or just to R&R it to replace the upper & lower seals on it? Has anyone attempted or completed such a fix?

My 318 only has 117k on it and the radiator is not seeping or leaking from any other area at all... only the expansion tank is leaking at the bottom where it connects to the radiator. W/ 117k on it, am I taking a gamble at just replacing the tank (or seals) instead of the entire radiator or should I just replace the entire radiator?

Who sells the M42 radiators for a good price? Apparently bimmerparts does not stock them...
