UUC DSSR Shifter Linkage does not fit my tranny knuckle??? 325 ES

Well, we were able to get the bitch clip off and remove the old and broken shifter linkage but it feels like the UUC replacement piece is too narrow. I called the shop I got the part from and they said 87+ cars have a narrower shifter knuckle ("gearshift rod joint", #13 in the pic). However, when I search on realoem.com, the part numbers are the same for my '86 ES compared to an 87 325i.

Any help? This is one of the final PITA projects holding our Lemons car back from being race ready!

They made it sound like I need to replace this piece that the red arrow points at, but part numbers are the same.

After looking on Pelican Parts' website, it appears as though the shop may be right but they misquoted the year. 90-91 i models have a different part number for the shifter rod joint. Ordered one, hopefully it works.

If you have the double shear selector rod, you need the gearshift rod joint that fits into the fork in the selector rod. It doesn't matter what part the car would call for. Nor would it matter if the fork isn't a close fit to the joint.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Been there, done that. I installed a UUC EVO with DSSR on my 87is, but it had the early model knuckle(which is offset, IIRC), so I had to order a late model one (89+) for the DSSR bolt in correctly.

Once you order the late model part, you'll be good to go. However, getting that old knuckle off is far worse of a bitch than the "Bitch clip." There's a circular metal cover that covers the pivot pin you need to remove in order to take the whole knuckle off. Once you remove that, it's easy sailing though.

Thanks for the input. Getting it off for me was no problem since I took a sawzall to the tranny tunnel to work from above. :)

Now, I dropped the knuckle's pin and I begin the hunt this morning, or else I get to order the $1 part and pay $8 shipping.

No seriously though I've never had nor heard of anyone really having troubles removing the knuckle/joint.
Hell I just swapped on a 95 M3 knuckle into my buddy's Eta the other night with the exhaust in place and the guibo in place ...plus I was drunk . ;)

Maybe you were so drunk that you imagined the whole thing.
