Valeo 80a alternator swap to Bosch 90a

I have a question in regards to alternator compatibility. I have a stock Valeo 80amp alternator with a faulty voltage regulator. Instead of just replacing the voltage regulator, I am considering changing to the Bosch 90amp alternator.

I know that they both were used in stock 1990 325i's. I am wondering if anyone knows if the pulleys, fan wheels, spacers, and nuts are compatible. According to:

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...22&hg=12&fg=22

the pulleys are different between the Bosch and Valeo. Does anyone have experience with this swap, i.e. can I take the Valeo fan wheel, pulley and bolt with directly on to a new Bosch 90amp alternator?

    Thanks!

I had the same issue as you ... old alternator was valeo and I replaced it with a Bosch 130A. All I did was a complete swap and so far nothing bad has happened. Mind you I am a noob to this, so I would double check with someone else. GL

    Cheers

Reviving an old thread. I have an old Valeo alternator in my 318is. Can I swap to a Bosch unit?
