engine life expectancy?

i know someone who had a 535i and didnt even give it a regular maintenance, did shitty work on it and it still runs at 285,xxx..just proves that bmw engineering has outstanding reliability, and with proper maintenance you can expect much more than that

only very minor problems.

TBH I don't even think the previous owner took very good care of it.
