    brake pad install, HELP!

My rear brakes squeek like hellon earth and I have a feeling it's time to replace the pads. Oddly enough, I inspected the pads and they seem to have plenty of life left, but there are grooves in the rotors like the pads are worn down. I have new pads anyways, so should I just replace them?

Now my problem lies in the fact that I just figured out doing rear pads is very different from doing front pads. I have done front pad installs twice without incidence but I am having trouble even getting the calipers off with the rear pad install. How the hell do you get those buggers off? I tried socket, nope, brake lines got in the way, tried an open end wrench, nope, brake lines in the way. And I reallllly don't want to take the brake lines off Any help with the install would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i would not replace the pads without re surfacing the rotors.... if you dont resurface/replace the rotors the life of your new pads may be shortend.

undo the caliper mount bolt...if you can. they're torqued on their like a bitch.

If you are bothered by a squeak, pick up an anti-squeak compound that goes in between the caliper and the pad. Brakes will always squeak, it's just the nature of the vibration that is caused. Whether or not you can hear the squeak is another question.

there is a spring clip that holds the outer pad to the caliper.

there are two pins the caliper slides on the ends should have plastic caps on them and inside i believe it is 7mm allen.. remove those two and the spring you should be good to go....

when putting it back together check out the shafts on those pins for scratches or rust.... and apply a small amount of grease before installing
