Factory Stereo Equipment

How much stereo equipment did my 91 318is come with? I'm wondering if there are any hidden compenents anywhere that I haven't seen in parts of the car that haven't been taken apart yet.

How many speakers?

amp is behind the drivers side rear trunk panel.
2 speakers in front footwell, 2 tweeters in the front sail panels of the door, and 2 speakers on the back deck.

and maybe an optional trunk mounted cd changer and car phone unit in trunk.

only if he has the premium sound system, which was an option on the 318iS, but the majority of them that I've seen had the regular 4-speaker system.

What type of deck do you have? If it's the cassette, you probably don't have the amp. I tore apart my 91 318is trunk to find that there was no amp. the above post is correct about the premium sound comment. also a lack of the little tweeter things by the side view mirrors is a good indication that you do not have premium sound package.

I dunno, what this car had. I have a 325 parts car with a 6 speaker system. But my 318 has only four that i've found so far. I'm assuming the car had the base model four speaker system, but when I looked at the car the previous owner had removed the head unit when he sold it to me, which was aftermarket. I have no idea what the stock head unit was. I've got the trunk stripped out and didn't see an amp, I've allready removed the auto antenae up and downer, and the speakers. I just wanted to see if i'd missed anything up under the dash.

My 318is has 4 speakers, and that's all I know of. I don't believe it had Premium audio (the window sticker doesn't mention it).
