    my eta is heating up...

hey guys, so my lovely E28 is treating me very well, today i noticed my stupid gauge( which never works, and always at cold) gets up altille bit over the half. i have to say that, to get the gauge working, i have to punch the dashboard or the cluster plastic cover first in order to the stupid gauge to work.

so i am driving and i noticed that the temp is a little bit over the half, parked the car and checked the rad, coolant leak etc...everything seems fine.

then i touched the lower raddi hose. and its cold ( the other 2 hoses are damn hot) but the lower raddi hose is cold. so i have a bad t-start...right?? or what.

    thanks

    car is an 1987 eta...528e

Or it could be air in the system. Also thermostats are only like 10 bucks anyways, just replace and bleed the system with fresh coolant.

i would tend to agree with you about a bad thermostat. an airlock in the system would cause you to go into the red in no time at all at least in my experience.

how about you fix the gauge cluster too while your at it? That way you can really keep an eye on the gauge incase it gets hot again...

On my e28 I also had a temp guage that didn't work without smacking it around. And I always felt that it might overheat and I wouldn't notice it soon enough. I swapped out the entire guage cluster and all is well. To me, it wasn't worth pursuing the bad ground or resoldering things.

damn, this is not a bad idea.

but i have a 7K RPM cluster. i don't wanna go back to the gay 5K RPM one lol.
