See it?
I thought I read it on a forum somewhere. It could be like the automatic climate control, however - thought of adding it, but didn't.Comment

i know the slot u talkin about. he is referrin to the slot that holds the 2 philips screws which hold up the lower plastic cover of the steering colum. i thought it was a tilt option when i first got my e30. look closely in there its not.Comment

and the thing with holes in it is the door chime.. unless im verry confused i think thats what you were refering to as the climate controll? the thing everyone that was the climate controll was the little sniffer on the conrtolls for the vents. there is a little vent the size of a penny... noone knows what its used for...Comment

I knew I saw it in one of Brysons' cars, paging Bryson to thread 272434.

Heh, I'm short aswell Kyle I'd like to know what Bryson did too, especially if I get a seat that is lower then sport seats in the future. I'm not as far forward as I can go but I'd like to tilt the wheel to be more comfortable.Comment

Dude, I know what the door chime is :) The penny sized "sensor" area on the HVAC panel is where the auto climate sensor goes - given away only by a numerical temperature dial as opposed to just warm/cold.Originally posted by kowalskiand the thing with holes in it is the door chime.. unless im verry confused i think thats what you were refering to as the climate controll? the thing everyone that was the climate controll was the little sniffer on the conrtolls for the vents. there is a little vent the size of a penny... noone knows what its used for...
I don't remember any screws going into the opening just underneath the culumn, but I'll look again. Just looks an awful lot like a tilt handle would fit nicely in there, and the slot shape of the hole helps reinforce that.
PS - apparently some bolsters don't come with door chimes - my euro one with the headlight adjustment knob doesn't have it ;)Comment

ooo k i was confused there, i wish i had no door chime, i took mine out but it has that damn fugly cover. and i dont recal those things above the collum but it looks like it oculd tilt... hmm interesting. ill cehck that out tomorrow. could he have spacers in his column to lower it? or are there actualy screws there. its night right now otherwise id check.Comment

Interesting, you may be right. I jsut found it strange that there was never a tilt column.Originally posted by kowalskiyeah, cept they arn't supposed to be screws its like a one turn knob like on the top of the bolster that screws into the dash.Comment

It is not hard at all to install screws to secure the knee bolster up and keep it from sagging down and catching on your shoes. I replaced all of the dumb plastic fasteners with screws, and now it is held up nice and tight.Originally posted by BeemerfanatikI don't remember any screws going into the opening just underneath the culumn, but I'll look again.
