Press on Dead Pedal = Door Chime

So you know when your kinda sliding down in your seat, and you put your foot on the dead pedal and use it to push yourself back and up in your seat? Well, when I do that, especially when I press kinda more on the right side of the dead pedal, my door chime (the ding when the door is open w/ the key in the ignition) starts up. Sometimes it chimes only when I press on it, and other times it'll stay on if I press on it and I have to stomp on the dead pedal to make it stop.

Any ideas on what do do?

That could be a fault in the wiring to the door switch. It has been two years since I stripped by E30, but i seem to remember the wiring to the door going by that area.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Disconnect your door chime and toss it.

Yeah, I'd start checking your grounds or other connections in that area. Something is making contact against something else when it shouldn't be.

Nah - we aim at "shoot that crossing bear with yer exhaust pipe" more.

We became known in europe for buing 2,5L or bigger engined BMWs (average euro car has 1,6L - 1,8L engine) and converting them to LPG power for economy - resulted in "shots" from the pipe on older engines from time to time.

Seriously now - what gave you the idea?

Yeah I simply removed the chime in my car. I hate those things. Its really easy to remove; its the thing right in front of you left knee. Take off that panel and it just unclips from behind.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Just leave it. You will kill power to the DME, your windows, and your gauge cluster the second you start messing with the wiring. Maybe it's Morse code. At any rate, it will give you something to listen to besides valve noise.
