My 318 should be shot and hung

It keeps leaving me stranded! I had to walk home AGAIN today. Grr..
Any troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here's what's going on:

I'll be cruising along and all of a sudden lose power (or stop getting gas?) and sometimes, I can coast along and it (whatever it is that cut off in the first place) will come back on and I can keep rollin'. Other times.. it just keeps slowing down until it completely dies. Then, I typically spend 5-10 minutes trying to get it to start. Cranks and cranks and cranks, sometimes attempts to idle and dies again. Step on the gas, it doesn't get anything.

What I know so far is.... I've got spark and I've got fuel pressure (how much? dunno yet). Replaced fuel pump, relay and filter.

    Any ideas at all?

Clean the contact areas of the relays in front of the left shock tower, this is where you will find the main and fuel pump relay, a third one for the warming of the lambda sensor can be found on Motronic cars.. which you don't have (K-jet ?).
Come to think of it, clean all of the electrical connectors that you can see in the engine bay. If you find corrosion, fix it. Your car is 20 years old, most electronic parts need to be looked over.

fo shizzle. grounds can fail very easily. when I first got the car it died like it had a dead battery. The little bare ground wire had snapped.

And show a little leg when it breaks down and you should be able to get a ride home.
      Im now E30less.

ROFL. I'll remember to try that next time.

Replaced that 2 months ago and just to be sure.. used a test light to check it yesterday. Workin' fine. Good thought tho.. I still think somehow it's fuel related.

I was gonna recomend the fuel pump realy as well, I think they are 30 bucks or so, but it seems like that is problem; next time it crappign out on you jump the fuel pump relay and see how it does. Also check the hoses on the pump itself, I too have an 84 318i and it acted up kinda like that until it leaked gas and I realized the trouble.

PM with any other questions man, I went through some crap with that m10, maybe I can help ya.
