    87 325is –> 91 318is

hey i was hoping to get some feedback from anyone that might know... heres the short of it....

i currently own an 87 325is, early body style...i've upgraded/replaced alot of the car, the engine runs strong, but its been wrecked, has a salvaged title, and it requires a decent amount of body work...

    but...

i recently acquired a 91 318is, and even though it has LOTS of major mechanical problems, it does in fact have a clean, unscathed title, being that its never been in any sort of wreck... the body is cherry!...so knowing this, and that its a late body style e30, i am wanting to move everything from my 325 to the 318....replace its m42 with my m20, swap tranny's, entire driveline, suspension, interior components, dash(318's is cracked), EVERYTHING!....
im pretty certain that this is all possible, and i know theres a few other peeps that started threads on this, but i still am not sure about one or two things....like if the 318's m42 harness plug will match up when i drop the m20 and its plug/ecu, etc....
any info would be much appreciated, and if theres anything that i should know that would make this as smooth as possible...
    thanx!

Not positive but I believe the wiring will be a bitch. I don't think the m42 harness matches with the m20 at all. I could be wrong though.

It's definitely possible though. I say go for it, just make sure you have your bentely handy.

should be a cool project, one things for sure your not the first.. so if you search you will be able to find some people probably willing to lend advice. There are a couple other guys here on the forum that have done it you may send them a PM for your general and specific questions.
