    m50 with an SMT-6

You could gain a lot more with a SMT-6 if you had an older motor with a AFM and converting it to a MAF. But since the M50 already has a MAF its cheaper and easier to just go with a chip.

You wouldn't really need a SMT-6 unless you were going to go custom forced induction or something of the sort.

for a stock motor, you're better off getting a chip. the SMT6 best complements conversions, forced induction, and fine-tuning.

Custom programming is where its at. How can one chip work perfect across the US? There are way too many variables. IF you want real power you should turn to custom programming.

          what trent said.

chip tuning is pretty ghetto fabulous imho, except in cases where its the only option, like brand new cars with 4 computers

There is a FAQ I believe on Gunny's website. There are also a few websites that feature information and tips on tuning the SMT-6. Try doing a Google search or something for SMT-6 and see what you come up with.
