question about battery wires

from the positive side of the battery 2 wires go to the front of the car, a 0-2 gauge and a 10 gauge. well the smaller one has no voltage at it on my car and there is no continuity between the 2 ends. is there a relay or fusible link in line somewhere?

Nope, should be +/- battery voltage at the firewall end- and there should be continuity. Sounds like yours might be broken??

was the engine running when you did the test?

Yes there is a fusable link in that smaller wire. Its located about 1.5ft from the battery. Give or take a bit.
