Oil service light

hey. I was driving the other day and the oil service light and an orange light lit up on the cluster. What does this mean? I just changed my oil less than 1,000 miles ago.

Did ya reset the light when you changed it? It's a pretty brainless system anyway, so you shouldn't follow it: Once I went about 9000 miles without reseting the light before the oil service light went on, and there's no way in hell I'd go that far without changing the oil.

or you could get a reset too... but what james said works too....

most jiffy lubes/greese monkeys have the reset tool... just go buy and say you need the light reset

Thanks guys. This is the first time the light has gone off since i got it at 87k so yea about 9k miles and now it goes off and ive alread done 3 oil changes on it. It scared me a bit when it went off, i wanted to make sure my engine was ok. Thanks again

haha, i do lol. I just reread that and thats pretty funny. At least i didnt bring it too the bmw dealer and pay $80 or so dollars to have them put the machine on it.
