    M52 Swap

Is there any issues that would make this harder than an s52 swap. My buddy just totalled his 328i and it has an engine with 100k miles and has been babied it's whole life, synthetic fluid all service performed by dealer and never really ragged on.

He would sell me the engine and tranny for 600 bucks so coupled with the cost of the OBD 1 swap it should be the same as a M50 and I'll get a little more low end grunt out of it.

You will want to run the E30 manual transmission, its far superior to the later E36 Manuals

with that kinda price I would keep the E36 tranny. You wouldnt have to rotate it due to the bellhousing bolts are the same and the mounts are already set. It's not as strong as the 260 for the E30 but it is still stout. That is a great price. Don't pass it up. Especially if you know the history of the engine!!!!

Hey Avus, if you dont buy this motor, let me know. I will take it for sure. Does that include the ecu and wiring harness? If you do it, that will be awesome. I would just use the e30 tranny. The mounting angles arent really that big of a deal. I believe that was discussed on here before.

The M52 swap will be the EXACT same difficulty as the S52 swap. There are NO external differences. for $600 bucks, that is an absolute steal. I usually sell that transmission for $600.
