    Euro Spec e30's? Any difference?

    So I was out at my first AutoX in the e30 yesterday down on Ft. Knox (alot different than the 400hp WRX, but alot more fun, surprisingly, this car has ALOT of potential, but thats a different story).

    Well this guy who was racing a Porsche 944 comes up and starts talking BMW's. Appearantly he has lived the last 6+ years in Germany (in the Army) and while he was over there he bought a 325i Euro spec, so he says.

    He said it was much faster than the US model, and he had some engine work done, etc..etc...that it would get close to 200mph on the Autobahn.

    He also said he had stripped the car of all but the shell when he had to come back because you cannot import them here as it was a model available here in the US, yadda yadda.

    Well, to the point, he offered me everything he had, minus the engine block as he already sold that for a very nice price ($450 if I come pick it all up at his house). The interior, engine head, intake manifold, bigger AFM and injectors (he says), bigger brake calipers, etc...

    So was the Euro model e30 that mch better than the US? Or were they the same car? I tried looking but didnt know where or what to look for.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you decide to pass on it I'd be interested.
    the Engine is the main difference on the eurp models and the bumpers depending on the year of the car. Europe didn't have as strick emisions so most of the cars didn't come with cats, and some engines have higher cr ratio.

        So it had "some engine work done" That would lead me to assume it still has the m20.

        a m20 is just not going anywhere near 200mph attached to the bricklike aerodynamics of a e30. The guy is full of shit, I wouldnt touch what he has for sale.

          Areed; Ian has aruond 320 hp, right? Think he can only manage around 140.

          if you COULD manage to get enough hp (probably aroud 1200) to get a e30 up to 200 mph, you would have to have soemthing way harder than GC and the car would have no weight on the tires, due to enormous lift. would not want to drive one that fast if it was possible

            lol he probably is seeing the gauge go to 200 and thinks it is 200 mph, but forgot that Germany uses the metric system

                a while back we calculated it out with the drag coefficients, etc, and IIRC it would take near 600HP to get the car to 180.


                I think he's full of shit. If he meant 200km/h, that's quite reasonable.

                  it would only take 600 to get the box up to 180? That guy that has the 800 hp turbo s38 should be able to pull 200 then.

                      a US spec 325i and a Euro spec 325i are all and all the same. No differences aside from interior junk and emmisions (or lack therof)

                              240 kmh is 149 mph, if you have done 148 mph that is great.
