Megasquirt and a M50/S50 swap qestion...

Does the megasquirt system go well with a M50 or S50 swapped e30?

I am planning on doing the engine swap this winter after AutoX season, but was wanting to do the Megasquirt here soon. Should I hold off on it? Or will it make the wiring easier in the long run? Are the two even compatible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Eric

You should probably do it after the swap...I'm pretty sure you'll end up revamping most of the engine harness for the m50.

the Mega quirt is a stand alone,. correct?

If I am right the VANOS system works in an "on/off" system that you would have to manipulate without the BMW DME. By "on/off" I mean the DME sends juice to the soilenoid that allows oil pressure to move the VANOS components, as far as I know, when it is open (on) the timing is 12 or 15 degrees (don't remember which) advanced, and when it is closed (off) the timing goes back to normal, as simple as that

My idea would be to simply have a devise that monitors the engine rpm and at 2200 turn the VANOS on and then at 5500 turn it off. That is assuming the VANOS is "on/off"
