    Serious driveline problems

I was leaving for class this morning, when, as I was engine braking behind a car going down a hill, I began to hear a grinding noise...

I got back on the gas going up the next hill and the noise stopped. But every time I engine brake I get a slight vibration and a grinding noise, as if something were scraping against the driveshaft or the input/output flanges on the diff.

Any insight? So far my inclination is to believe it's the diff mount or subframe bushings/nuts, judging by the way I get a slight thump when I start to engine brake.

    Help ASAP!

Found the culprit. Front two diff mounting bolts had vibrated loose.

That happened to me and cracked my subframe where it mounts to the differential. Keep those bitches tight!
