Super Chip

Hi there again...

Am driving a 1989 E30 316i Manual in Singapore and pretty much loving every second of it, except the seat that gave me a back ache lately!

I have gotten a super chip from a friend that was formally used on a E36 316i Auto with a M40 engine

Since my E30 is also a facelifted model with a M40 engine, I tried fixing it to the ECU board last weekend...

However, the car couldnt be started... I am not too sure why!
Do I need to make any other changes? Any tuning required?
I was told that such factory chip will need to just plug them into the ECU

Is it because the E30 and E36 super chip is not compatible even though they have the same M40 engine?

Please advise... attached the photos of the chip and its casing!

Yes you will need a different chip that is compatabile with your E30's ECU number for it to work.
The later E36 chip is not going to work in your ECU.

On another note that Superchip sure is super ......its breaking out of the case ! :D
