    starter Question?

Ok on my m30 engine I bolted on a 325i starter as it ahd very close to the same power rating.
Today I bolted on my lightweight flywheel, and noticed that it looks liek the e30 gear will only engage maybe half the width of the teeth on the Ring gear.
Is there any way to supply power to the starter just to kick out the gear but not spin it?

Just pull/pry the starter drive out by hand (if you can get to it); there's only spring pressure holding it retracted. If you can't get it to move you could loosen/remove the solenoid and then the pinion/drive would move freely. Just a thought.

I tried no room, I'm just going to put 12volts to it tommorow, I jsut didn't want to risk damaging the flywheel, as the one I"m using is hard to come by. Stock bmw part, lightest factory available for the m30. Weighs as much as the aftermarket ones at 11.5 lbs :D
