Late model fuel tank into early 325is

Anyone fitted a late model (post 9/87) tank into an early model (6/87) 325is? The early tank is 55L capacity and the later tank holds 63L. Those extra eight liters would be very nice to have in an Enduro. There's an obvious difference in the pumps and level sensors, but I can work around that if the tank will physically fit and mount up to the car.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

    55+4=63?

I'm not sure about a 6/87 but I just found out that my '88 325is, built 8/87, actually has the 9/87 fuel tank and surrounding parts. I have no reason to believe than any of the previous owners swapped tanks as the car was way to stock and in nice shape. Perhaps mine was built at the very end of the month in 8/87 and they had already swapped over the fuel system? Either way even when I type in my VIN into realoem.com it shows the smaller tank but I have the bigger one, who knows.
