its not necessarily your heater core.
it is most likely your heater valve and o-rings.
pull out your center console, and try to determine where the leak is. once you pull out the console, you should see the heater valve on the drivers side towards the middle up near the firewall.Comment

Its a matter of time. You have to remove the console and its kind of an akward position to work in so it takes a bit longer.
Remember that most automotive jobs are billed solely on time and not on how hard they are.
I was quoted $800 in labor for my subframe and TA bushings. It wasnt a physically hard job once you got the car high enough it just takes time.Im now E30less.

Same problem happened to me a few years back, and it turned out to be a loose heater hose at the firewall.
It's the heater core only if you smell coolant in the vents. If it is, changing one is pretty easy.... I changed mine in under an hour last Friday.Comment

i fixed the problem it was the heater core vavle...anyways now i have about 5 quarts of coolant under my carpet front and back...i was told the eaisest ways to get rid of the coolant was with newspapers and letting them absorb the coolant...but i think it would be eaiser if i just removed the driver seat and the seatbelt holder and then raised the carpet up and shopvacd the coolant.....if any of you have a better idea please share the wealth....thank you!!JDM no moreComment
