    88 UP Side Moulding on 87 Back Cars?

    Whats envolved in making the quarter panel piece fit?

      Bumping an ooooold post.

      Right now my side moulding looks like this:


      As you can see the side moulding (or protective moulding on realoem) are a mix of the chrome and the all black versions. The question is, the all black versions fit the fenders and the doors, but do they direct swap into the rear quarters? Or do I just have to SEM paint the chrome ones?

        The rears aren't a direct swap, because the Late Model arches are smaller(they won't fit). Technically, you can use the later all-black moldings on the fender and door, but the design pattern is different, and it wouldn't completely match the quarter panel molding even if you did paint it black.

        Just get all early pieces and paint them black if you want the best results.

            yah, i realized this after some more searching. going to pick up some SEM Trim Paint and some SEM Metal Etching Primer soon.

            i had a senior moment regarding the arches, somehow i was thinking convertibles had arches similar to the early cars. oops...
