The m10 likes boost more than the m20 so what would be the point in swapping in an m20 if you want to turbo?

      how much PSI would a 1.8 M10 need to outboost a 12psi M20?

I guess it's just a compromise from that point on.

      Boosting a 2.5L 6cyl vs boosting a 1.8L 4cyl

Probably quite a bit but to boost an m20 at 12psi would probably cost more than $2000 including motor acquisition. We are talking about a 2002 as well it doesn't take too much to "make it fly."

M10 turbo. You can make plenty of power out of it, it bolts in with no modification at all, and you can keep the excellent balance of the twenty-zero-two. A friend of mine has a turbo 2.0l M10 in his E30 doing 263 wheel horses. That'd be perfect for a twenty-zero-two.
