For instance, my vehicle is a 91 318ic... Hypothetically, suppose there is a recall for this vehicle that should have been taken care of a few years back, but the PO never took the vehicle in for the recall... Seeing now that the car is 18 years old, does BMW still perform a true Recall on a vehicle that never had the recall completed?
And just to square things up -
A BMW Service Bulletin is one those of which were internal to BMW and were not "mandatory" fixes - is this correct - or were these only mandatory fixes to said vehicle IF that vehicle was still under the factory warranty period and once it rolled in the shop for Repair A, the open Service Bulletin issues were also repaired free of charge? Were these Service Bulletins also a letter campaign to the owner's of warrantied vehicles?
A BMW Recall is one that is issued by the NHTSA and is a mandatory letter campaign - of which the Dealer was and has to fix such a recall or issue free of charge regardless of who owned the vehicle or if the warranty period had expired - correct? How long does such a recall remain "open" for a no charge repair?
Thanks!
