A few issues with mine silly bimmer

Just wondering if anybody else has had these issues. Every once in a while, my '86 325eS refuses to start unless I pull the fuel relay out, and plug it back in. After that, it turns over and runs like a champ, as if nothing happened at all. Also, It's got a strange issue where if you turn the car off and pull the key out, the car continues to run at about 100rpm, and something keeps it barely running, at least til I kill it by putting it into gear. I just find it weird that it keeps sparking even after I pull the keys out of the ignition.

Anybody else have any issues like this?

Clean the contacts on the relay and relay socket.

It also sounds like you have a back feed in your electrical system.

I'll clean the relay socket and the relay this afternoon, thanks :3. The problems are just kinda sporadic. I just got to school and it shut off just fine for the first time. It's not the worst problem I could have, lol. Definitely gives the E30 character :3.

Turns out this car of mine has beastly electrical demons, but it runs lol. I'm thinking about just replacing the engine bay and under dash harnesses.

In my experience, your engine "dieseling" probably is a feedback problem caused by a bad ground wire. Check the big ground wire to the engine, it's located on the driver's side near the front of the engine underneath the car.

I'll be sure to check that tomorrow morning :D. Thanks :D. Also, as I've just found out, the relay I'm pulling happens to be the DME relay, not the fuel pump relay. I'm not sure what to gather from that, but I'm thinking I should replace the entire engine harness. The PO obviously tried his best to correct whatever was going wrong with the car at the time, and it's kind of a hackjob.

I wouldn't be too worried if that's the extent of your problem. It's not like E30s have that complicated of an electrical system.

Yeah, I was looking at the service manual, and it really doesn't look like all that hard of a job. It looks so much simpler than more modern cars, at least.
