    Bosch > Autolite

II decided that yesterday would be a good day to change my plugs. I go to pull #1 cylinder plug and first notice that it is tight as hell the whole way out. Then on inspection of the plug I noticed that the tip of the thread was practically flat and it was cross-threaded in. Not realizing that it was a POS autolite at first, in spite that I was heated. Luckly only that cylinder had the problem.

Got all new bosch supers today and put them in. May i say that there IS a noticable difference between plugs.

Crossthreading is usually due to putting the plugs in wrong, not the plug itself. You need to hand thread it into the head then barely tighten it. Don't torque on it with a big rachet.

How old were plugs? old plugs--->new plugs will always make a difference, despite the brand.

Bummer about the cross threading, thats a real good sign of an idiot mechanic or idiot DIYer, or perhaps a semi skilled monkey.

^^Somthing that should have been said to the idiot mechanic/idiot owner/semi skilled monkey.

The plugs had been in there when I purchased the car. But what I am happy about is that the tips of the removed plugs were golden brown.
