Welding Exhaust Tips Straight Instead of Slanted...

Question: Will I run into any issues if I cut the slanted tips off my muffler and weld them so they are parallel with the car? I got a steal on a Racing Dynamics rear apron, but it is for aftermarket straight-tip exhaust. My muffler is only about 2 years old, I bought new from Bavauto. I see that the tips are double-walled, so I wanted to make sure that if I do cut and straighten I don't affect resonance or performance or whatever. Buying a new apron is not an option.
    thanks guys.

if theyre double walled all the way back to the muffler you may have some problems, but if not i think youll be fine. the openings from the muffler might be oval though...

I think I'll be able to deal with the oval openings, I can fabricate metal decently. What Im worried about is if the cavity in the double-walled tips is functional for resonance/sound.

      Anybody have some input?

I haven't done it yet I will go for it when I have the RD apron mounted so I know exactly where the tips need to be before welding in place.

not yet, the car is getting dents pulled and filled right now then it goes in my garage for the rear apron/bumper fab.

Apparently, the Racing Dynamics valance is not made to work with stock exhausts or alot of aftermarket e30 exhausts. I had to cut my stock tips off so I could fit my valance. I looked into replacing my tips, but ended up finding a used supersprint exhaust (from an m10 318) that fit perfectly. Good luck

Post pics when you are done - always wondered about this. I'll have the same issue if I ever find a steal on a RD apron.

Looks like the placement is the same as the E30M3
