    Gas smell from gas cap

    Hey there y’all-

My E30 has a gas smell from the gas cap even after I just finished filling up. For example, just hanging in the garage after sitting for a few weeks I can smell gasoline from the gas cap area.

Know what this could be? Poor sealing gas cap?

    Thanks!

inspect your fill pipe (aka filler neck hose) and it's connections

I've had the issue where the vent hoses cracked. Remove the right rear tire, then remove the plastic shield in the wheel well. Inspect all those hoses and the plastic overflow container for cracks. All these cars are 30+ years old and all the rubber parts are suspect. Don't delay getting to the root cause. Gas fumes are nothing to ignore! Also, there is a "tee" on one of those hoses, mine had rusted through. Get the proper metric fuel hoses as they will fit better.
