Retaining clips for 14" basket weaves

The retaining clips for the center caps are loose and I am afraid of losing one (or more) while driving.
Any tips for either getting new clips or a good way to secure?

Buy some used, but maybe bent or otherwise cosmetically damaged caps somewhere and swap parts. As far as repairing the locking mechanism, you can likely only do iffy fixes like moving the plastic around a bit with heat or adding a shim/other material. Be aware that your caps may become impossible to remove without a tool if they are too tight.

Alternate solution, buy new caps at ~100 each, but then you have to paint your wheels too.
