Bumps on strut tower interfering with strut bar

Just received a Garagistic strut brace for my '90 coupe. Looking around it seems like everyone just bolts down their bars over the strut towers despite the fact that the strut towers aren't flat on the top, they have raised bumps around the holes for the strut mount studs. Seems to me I should be installing washers under the bar so it's not just being pulled and bent as I snug those nuts down.

Thoughts?

That's exactly what I did with mine, put washers underneath. Been running with it for several years.
