    Idle Control Valve

SO my stroker E30 runs loud and idles high and I was told it could be the idle control valve going bad. I had a BMW mechanic friend take it out and he told me the rattling that was supposed to happen was quiet because it was clogged with carbon. Seeing as how a new one is $600 from auto zone, would I be able to find one from an e46 or something around that time? I didn't know if they were interchangeable or if they used a different part.

Don't buy parts from the local stores, they'll tuypicall be low quality and overpriced. Use bmwfans.info or realoem for part numbers/interchanges. Test before replacing and buy good used if on a budget.
