Embarrasing Q for middle-aged R3Vers only

Hey, this is kind of embarrassing, but now that my car is getting to that age, there’s a couple unfortunate shortcomings that I don’t know how to fix. My radio antenna used to extend up to full length as soon as the radio got turned on, but now it just goes up halfway and stalls out, no matter how much I fiddle with it. The back seat windscreen in my cabrio will seem to be working great until I get up to say, 80mph, the speed starting to get exciting, then it flops down flat just when I need it the most. The storage flap for the convertible top sags so I have to prop it open with my shoulder as I monkey around trying to get the top situated. I’ve heard that this type of thing is common for geezerly vehicles like mine, so I was hoping that a few of you guys could lend some much-needed advice.

Could be stress, and or diet related. I would suggest trying to deal with the effects related to daily life before turning to pharmaceuticals. And, I'm not middle aged.

From another mid ager of 52, (or I guess you youngsters might think thats actually OLD, but hey, ask my wife. Shes 31. Like the e30, some of us stayed pretty clean).

Whatever goes on with your car, it's up to you to fix it. Right.. so

Read a lot. Clean, detail your engine bay and track down all your vacuum leaks and replace things, and you learn your car. Im sure you have over the years if your the OO.

Fix it, or learn to call it a quirk and live with it. Like I do my drivers central lock, antenna ( Mine won't go up at all, but the motor runs like crazy, dented bottlecap wheels, coolant sender makin me think Imma runnin hot when Im not, leaks, sprained suspension links, etc, ergo...... )

I had a problem with my mast not fully retracting. I called the QRD Electronic Cleaner hotline and they told me to spray it liberally onto the shaft and massage it for a few minutes with an up and down stroking method. It did sting for a few minutes ( I got some in my eyes) but now my mast goes up and down when needed.

+1 Throw the windscreen away and with the windows up at interstate speeds it is quieter than it is with the top up.

When you get to my age, it's hard to remember which is which.

This reminds me of my favorite political cartoon from the mid-80's. Ron Reagan, who was considered senile by his critics, but loved by the rest of us, was in a hospital room after being shot by that idiot Hinkley. He had a confused expression, looking at the wall next to his bed. He was scratching his head and hovering a finger next to 2 buttons - one said NURSE and the other said NUKES.
