    Gauge Cluster fun.......

Allright. Got my new car, everything is cool, except for the guage cluster:

The whole right side (tach/mpg/temp) does not work. The oil service indicator light WONT go off even after resetting them.

The Odometer doesnt work. I swear the first time I test drove the car it had 120k on it. Now it has 103k and it wont work. Oh well, stupid people. Guess I need to report that to the DMV.

Ok, I am thinking about just switching the guage cluster from my old car into the new one, do you think that will solve my problems? I think the deal with the right side of the cluster and the SI lights are because of the SI batteries. The ones in my old car worked fine, so i hope that fixes it. And i think the gears in the odometer are stripped out.

Any other suggestions? Id rather get the one in the car working so i dont have to deal with reporting milage and stuff and dealing with the people at the DMV.

Sounds like someone was rolling back the odometer, it's not hard at all. Or the swapped cluster with a bad one they had lying around. Bad becase it might just need SI batteries.

You can try putting the front half of your old cluster, including the si board, onto the rear half of the new cluster. My tach would not work after I finished the m50 swap and I traced it to the si batteries.

Yea i think her mechanic tried to set back the odometer. I have taken my car to his shop before and they were supposed to replace both control arms, well, he replaced one, with a USED control arm. Got my money back tho.....bastards.

Heh, my tach just died today... ONLY the tach/MPG guage though, i'm pretty sure it's a loose ground nut on the back.

There is no ground nut for the tachometer.

If your fuel gauge took a shit as well, it's probably fuse #10.

Mine was fuse 21, my father forget to tell me he took out the trunk light while i was working on the rear bumpers. Thats fine, don't want to drain the battery. What he didnt tell me was the fact that he accidentally grounded the wires to car somehow and sent sparks flying, thus popping the fuse
