Hi all,
I have a 91 318i that I recently swapped a better condition m42 into. It runs and drives fine, however it seems that no matter what I do, as soon as the key is in the run position, the temperature gauge immediately shoots up as far as it can go and never comes down. This happens if the car is cold or hot, it seems to make no difference.
I have checked the ground on the back of the cluster, unplugged the temp sensor in the head (not the DME one) and nothing seems to make a difference.
If anyone has an idea of what could be going on here, some help would be greatly appreciated. :)
EDIT: The gauge stays at hot until I turn the key off and give the cluster a tap. If I don't tap the cluster, the needle stays at red
