OK so I finished putting my motor in. 90 325i. Now I have no power to the fuel pump. I have power at the relay and I jump it off but fuse 11 has no power at either side of it. The pump works cause I jumped it off straight from the battery. I think an animal might have eaten the wire going back to the fuel pump but I won't be able to use the lift until tomorrow. I am guessing that the wire either runs somewhere by the fuel lines or in the car. Anything else to look at??

I'm guessing you have probed both fuse tabs within the box itself and are not getting a reading?
If you are not getting direct power at the actual fuse location, check the bottom of the actual fuse box circuit board (you have to take the box apart). Due to the age and possible movement of the main wiring harness into it, it's quite possible the contact points for those female fuse contacts on the board have either corroded or the solder joint has cracked thus creating a non-functional fuse socket... I've seen on multiple BMW forums where the E30 fuse/relay boxes are known for having aged solder joints that have cracked over the years causing multiple electrical gremlins.... The repair is easy - just time consuming as you have to remove the box from the vehicle and take it apart to get to the bottom of the board.
Also, if your crank positioning sensor is bad or faulty, it will not fire off the fuel pump when cranking the engine - thus no power will be found at the pump. Have you tried pulling any codes yet and if so, what were they?
If I remember correctly, I think the fuel pump harness runs from the pump location under the seat to inside the vehicle, either up the center console or the passenger side rocker to the main dash harness. You would have to remove your bottom rear seat cushion and the front seats, center console, rocker trim and then lift the carpet to see these wires. There are not any wires or harnesses that run outside and under the vehicle.Last edited by Cobra Jet; 04-14-2009, 08:57 AM.
