Mystery Plugs Behind Glovebox Running from ECU

Have an 87 325e (built 2/87) that I recently acquired. The "Check Engine" light in the cluster doesn't illuminate. I'm not talking about the CHECK control panel light. I'm talking about the actual emissions related light.

I changed the bulb and swapped it with a known working bulb, still no illumination. I know it's supposed to come on with the ignition and go off once the car starts.

I was looking at wire diagrams and read that pin 15 on the Motronic 1.1 ECU is what feeds directly into the Check Engine light on the cluster. I dropped the glovebox tonight to see if I could trace the wire direct from pin 15 on the ECU to the cluster to see if maybe there was a fault with the wire somewhere along the way.

In doing so, I found two plugs which look almost like a plug to insert a probe? I hooked up my multimeter to each one and both get 12V when the key is turned. One of them is a Green & Yellow wire, which according to the wiring diagram is the same color as the Check Engine light wiring.

Any idea what these harnesses/probes are for? As far as I can tell, nobody has been in behind the dash messing with the wiring. All seems factory and unmolested. The glovebox light wiring is in the lower part of the pic and fully functional. These are not related to that.
