    E30 M3 suspension upgrade

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to upgrade the suspension of my E30 M3. I feel that the old suspension is no longer meeting the requirements for both track driving and daily use.

If anyone has experience or suggestions for good products, or has upgraded before, please let me know

You might be better off trying S14.net, theyre dedicated for just the M3. Quick search there gave me this https://s14net.vbulletin.net/forum/s...nsion-question

I went through a similar upgrade on my E30 M3, aiming for a balance between track performance and daily usability, and I can definitely say the original suspension just doesn’t cut it anymore after all these years.

From my experience and research, these setups work really well:

      Coilover options (best balance overall):
      • Bilstein B14 / B16 (PSS9): Excellent mix of comfort and control. Very livable on the street, but still confidence-inspiring on track days.
      • KW Variant 3: Great if you want more adjustability. Being able to fine-tune rebound and compression helps a lot when switching between street and track.
      • ST Suspension (X or XTA): Solid value option. Not as refined as KW, but still a big step up from stock.

      Springs & supporting mods:
      • H&R Sport or Eibach Pro-Kit springs work well if you’re not going full coilover.
      • Adjustable rear control arms are highly recommended to properly dial in alignment, especially if you lower the car.
      • Upgraded sway bars make a noticeable difference in reducing body roll and improving turn-in.

      Things to keep in mind:
      • Polyurethane bushings sharpen the handling but can add NVH for daily driving.
      • A proper alignment after installation is crucial — it completely changes how the car feels.
      • Tires matter just as much as suspension; good rubber transforms the setup.

      My setup:
I’ve been running a Bilstein-based setup with sport springs, and it’s been very usable daily while still feeling planted and predictable on track. Stiffen it up slightly for track days, soften it back for the street — works great.

If you share your budget and how often you track the car, it’ll be much easier to narrow down the best setup for your needs.
