    painting the e30 M3

    Need help:
I just replaced my rear window in which the window and the two rubber gaskets came from Europe. Can the rear window be popped out for prep like a regular window without destroying the rubber baskets or would I need to buy new gaskets?

the rear window is a BONDED window. This is why the M3 is stiffer torsional. The sides are the same as any e30. The front is a bonded window as well.

exactly...this is why i was wondering if the gaskets can be re-used or not once the window is out. If not then Ill have to order another set from Europe and this set is brand new:(

or i can ask my paint guy to do the best he can without taking the window out, but im not sure how this will work out.

          suggestions welcomed

Believe they are one time use. Not positive. Dealer should be able to tell you and a glass company should be able to as well.

ha, I read the original post wrong. I thought you were asking if the rear 1/4 windows were bonded in. I also believe they are one time use or you'll have uneven sealant the second time around.

Are you talking about the trim around the outside? those can be reused if you are carefull with them. The actually rear glass is bonded into place with a windwhield type glue. Anyone who installs winshields will be able to reinstall the rear window with out issue.

Nobody is saying the glass we are talking about the rubber seal on the M3. Nor are we talking about trim.

There should be the two outer trims and then one part in the center that holds them together and hides the seam.

                          WHos doing your paint work?
