    s14 starting issue

    R3v!
    s14.net is sort of dead so i decided to post here.

    after a spirited drive i come home and park the car.
    next day it wont start.
    get it jumped, starts and i drive it for a bit.
    turn the car off at my destination, try to start and its a no go.
    swap batteries since i figured that was the issue. still nothing.
    swap in my original battery, tighten everything light on dash go on with ignition switched to "ON" go to crank car- tottaly dies, like zero power- switch ignition off and back on- still super dead.
    un-do battery, wire it back up, power is restored and sam ehting happens.
    removed plenum to check wireing to the alternator it is all fine. blue wires are intact- ground wire is good.
    check battery wires. the fusable link on the battery is sort of freid, not sure if thats the proble?
    any help will be appreciated. i am out of ideas

      i suspected the alternator but it wont even start. it would make sense if it died while driving and dash lights worked but the car tottaly dies

        If it starts when being jumped and runs after being jumped, the alternator is fine as its running off the Alternator. No start, likely a bad connection or broken wire. If you have a nuked fuseable link that is in your positive side from the battery, that would explain why it won't start. I'd check your positive wire at the battery and see how it looks. Did you check the voltage at the battery with the car off?

        I had my ground wire fall off the back of the alternator a few weeks back. The car ran for about a week just off the battery until the battery died on my way home from work. The funny thing was, the alternator light didn't come on at all. I'd check your positive and ground wires in the trunk.

          check voltages at the battery when the car is off, on. should be ~12, ~14
          check voltages at the front junction when the car is off, on. should also be ~12, ~14

            what does the fusable link do? the end that connects to the battery is really shitty
