    s52 e30 M3 swap help

    Does anyone have a link to an in depth s52 swap write up? The guy that did my swap can across a view issues that he couldn't complete. He has done several s52 e30 swaps but none s52 e30 M3 swaps and he said some items are different in the M3 that than regular e30. For instance he said a regular e30 radiator couldn't fit it.

    so here is a list that needs to be completed that he wasn't sure about;
    radiator
    AC hook up
    steering column ( the piece that connects to the tranny I guess).

    any help would be appreciated

    I did this exact swap. I used and E36 mishimoto radiator, didnt run A/C, had no issue with the steering column. If he has done this swap in other e30s he should have not problem on the M3. Its almost the same as any other e30.

      Your swap guy is not very bright if he can't work those issues out.

      That's frighteningly basic.

      1) just use the E30 M3 mounts on the E36 radiator.
      2) fix the AC lines the exact same way you would any other E39 swap.
      3) steering linkage no change / shift linkage should be either E36 or modified E30 M20 hardware.

      But seriously, your swap guy is an absolute fucking incompetent idiot if he can't figure this stuff out on his own. Don't be surprised if it turns into a disaster. I'd personally recommend towing the car out right now and getting it to someone intelligent.

            I cant believe people still want to do swaps on these cars. 10 years ago when values weren't skyrocketing and originality wasnt on anyone's mind, sure, but now?

                  So you recovered the car....never updated the other thread. Honestly I would go with a S54 these days, they have come down drastically in price and are roughly the same weight with 100 hp more.

                    That's easy. Most of these cars went to hell and back and trying to make them nice growing in value cars again would take more than you can get nice original one for.
                    Make it a nice driver and get rid of that fragile s14!

                      That's a great point. Everyone should do this so mine is more valuable with its original S14.

                        Yep recovered the car with the help of the local sheriff. Was so pissed and upset that I didn't update the thread. Bottom line is that I was out a bunch of money and the car turned to shit. But it's made progress. It's since been painted, cleaned up and an s52 thrown in. Interior and minor mechanics are the final project
