    Loss of RPM

SO have a 1988 M3 stock 2.3 L. sat for several years. Been trying to sort it out. did the usual. New plugs wires filters. It would run great around town but once on the track it would run crappy after a while. Had crap in in fuel tank that kept plugging up injectors. Finally last week I put in new fuel tank all new filters and cleaned injectors. Also added a Dinan D093-2321 chip. Ran great around town again.. took it to the track Sunday. Ran great for the first couple sessions. All my troubles seemed to have gone away. But then the last two sessions the rpms would get to 6000 and just stop. No sputter or anything. If I pushed in on the clutch a bit the rpms would again climb to above 6000 and off I would go. The next time I hit the straight stretch again 6000 rpm max. bump the clutch a bit and off she'd go!. So is it the chip? Some type of load on the clutch? Some type of linkage or fuel issue? Pulled good through all the gears otherwise. Gonna get at it Saturday any starting points?
